Are you at risk of falling?

How to use this tool

This tool will help you share information with your members about how they can prevent falls. It divides the risk factors for falls into two main categories: personal and environmental. The personal factors section includes health, behavior and lifestyle issues and the environmental section targets the surroundings in and around the home and in the neighborhood.

You could use any of the questions to generate discussion among your members. You can also use the content for educational programs, quizzes, posters or fact sheets. Some of the tips provided are based on research evidence. Others come from a review of falls prevention guides and from clinical experiences.

Nobody is expected to do all of those recommendations. Start with things that are the most important, or the easiest, for you to do.
